My work
My passion for painting motivates me greatly to paint still lives. Solid in my experience I try to push the technique to its extreme limits, the starting point thereby being the technique of the Renaissance master painters. My still lives have a modern appearance even though I paint mainly in the way of old masters. To arrive at a well balanced composition I allow myself to be guided by feeling and intuition.
Still life means to me a never ending source of inspiration. My aspiration is an ideal of beauty wherein the texture of depicted objects, the depth and detail play a crucial role. I am convinced that a good still life holds more than what the eye perceives. Painting a still life is for me a way to represent my vision of the reality from within a subconscious emotional level. When giving the painting the final touch, after a long and careful process, I know when it is completed by the feeling of deep satisfaction touching my heart.
